Ancient Acre fortress comes alive in new nighttime spectacle

Historic Acre Fortress Transforms with Dazzling Nighttime Spectacle
Acre’s famed Knights’ Halls are aglow with history, thanks to a breathtaking new video-mapping show that combines ancient tales with modern technology.
The Breaking Point
After a $4.5 million renovation, which included the installation of 22 powerful projectors and 10 kilometers of fiber-optic cable, the ancient fortress of Acre is now hosting an immersive show that traces its storied past. The 35-minute spectacle, crafted by French company COSMOAV, brings the city’s history to life—from Hellenistic times to modern Israel.
Beneath the Surface
Taking cues from similar historical showcases throughout Europe, the entertainment is made universally accessible, featuring audio descriptions and special provisions for the hearing impaired. The initiative not only aims to revitalize local businesses affected by recent hardships but also to draw tourism back to this northern Israeli gem.
The Ripple Effect
Acre seeks to reclaim its status as a top tourist destination, an ambition fueled by the Knights’ Halls transformation and keenly supported by Yuval Porat, CEO of the Old Acre Development Company. With its bustling markets, historic port, and vibrant daily life, Acre is more than just a relic—it’s a timeless destination.
